Sun shines on Hammers (West Ham United vs Blackburn Rovers 29/10/06)

Panel DecisionWest Ham United desperately needed a win after a luckless run which saw them lose 8 on the spin. And if some luck was past due to the Hammers at Upton Park, it certainly came this Sunday after their winning goal from Mullins after he got on the end of an Etherington in-swinging corner. Only thing is that it shouldn’t have been a corner at all as the ball went out off of Bobby Zamora…

Somewhat cruelly for West Ham fans The Right Result Panel adjudicates their second goal to be invalid, making The Right Result a 1-1 draw.

Mendes’ moment of madness (Portsmouth vs Reading 28/10/2006)

Panel DecisionPedro Mendes, a man who never seems to be out of the headlines at the moment for one unfortunate reason or another, made a blinding reaction for Pompey to deny Reading a second goal. Which would have been fine if only he’d been keeping goal! Ref Phil Dowd missed it, but he was the only one, with even Mendes himself confessing that it was a stupid thing to have done…

Pedro Mendes may receive some minor credit for ‘fessing up to his misdemeanor, but the real credit goes into Reading’s account as The Right Result Panel judges that they deserved a penalty, changing the score to a narrow 3-2 defeat.

Hornets stung by lino (Watford vs Tottenham Hotspur 28/10/2006)

Panel DecisionPoor old Tommy Smith may have spurned the chance of the season over at Vicarage Road, but despite his dreadful point blank miss, Aidy Boothroyd’s Hornets will rightly consider themselves hard done by after a dreadful linesman’s call saw a perfectly good Ashley Young goal ruled out for offside…

The Right Result Panel rules this as a legitimate goal and so the Right Result is 1-0 to Watford.

Gunners denied? (Arsenal vs Everton 28/10/2006)

Panel DecisionArsenal apparently set a record for possesion in an EPL match with over 70% of the play, but their fans were not best pleased with what many saw as a reluctance to shoot. That may be as so, but was young Swiss defender Johan Djourou’s first half penalty shout after being clipped inside the area by Phil Neville a good one?

The Right Result Panel adjudges that Djourou was indeed taken out by Neviller the younger, and therefore Arsenal should have been awarded a penalty. The Right Result is 2-1 to The Gunners.

Over the line, lino! (Fulham vs Wigan Athletic 28/10/2006)

Panel DecisionDidn’t Henri Camara’s header cross the line before Niemi scooped it out?

The Right Result Panel adjudges that the ball quite clearly crossed the line and so Wigan gain an extra goal for a 2-0 win.

Liverpool win slightly less emphatic (Liverpool vs Aston Villa 28/10/2006)

Panel DecisionRafa Benitez men ran amok at Anfield in a rampant 14-minute spell during which all three of their goals were netted, and overall ran out deserving winners. But…Villa were unfortunate it was an unassailable 3 lead as Luis Garcia was clearly offside before scoring Liverpool’s third goal…

The Right Result Panel sees Garcia’s goal as offside and adjudges that it should not stand, making The Right Result score is 2-1 to Liverpool.

Rosenior double trouble (Aston Villa vs Fulham 21/10/2006)

Panel DecisionLiam Rosenior was penalised for impeding Stilian Petrov for the Villa penalty which Gareth Barry smashed home on 26, but had he already handled in the area in the 6th minute and gotten away with it?

The Right Result Panel adjudges that a penalty should have been awarded to Aston Villa for the Rosenior handball, changing the 1-1 draw at Villa Park to a Right Result of 2-1 to Aston Villa.

Hornets happy but Addicks unlucky (Charlton vs Watford 21/10/2006)

Panel DecisionCharlton Athletic may have stopped the rot with a goalless draw at The Valley, but the Iain Dowie’s Addicks were unlucky not to have been awarded at least one of two excellent penalty claims after not only Jordan Stewart looked to have handballed inside the area only for the resultant free kick to be given outside of it, but also when Bouazza wrestled Amady Faye to the ground in the box…

The Right Result Panel has adjudged both these incidents to have been Charlton penalties so The Right Result is 2-0.

Pushy Johnson opens the door (Everton vs Sheffield United 21/10/2006)

Panel DecisionMikel Arteta opened the scoring with a fine headed goal, but what EPL mainstay Dermot Gallagher may have missed was a push by Andy Johnson on Davis that allowed the young Spanish midfielder a clear tilt at it…

The Right Result Panel rules that Arteta’s opener Everton goal should be disallowed, making the final scoreline 1-0 to the Toffees.

Lino calls wrong Toon (Newcastle United vs Bolton Wanderers 15/10/2006)

Panel DecisionNewcastle United’s pace-setting opener goal came via a penalty awarded against Faye for handling an Obefemi Martins cross. Upon closer inspection though it seems that Faye may have been a bit hard done by as he did not in fact handle the ball. Insult was added to injury for the Trotters when they later had a similar claim turned down by the same lino!

The Right Result panel disallows this goal, hence the final result is a 2-0 win for Bolton Wanderers.
