Gunners denied? (Arsenal vs Everton 28/10/2006)
Arsenal apparently set a record for possesion in an EPL match with over 70% of the play, but their fans were not best pleased with what many saw as a reluctance to shoot. That may be as so, but was young Swiss defender Johan Djourou’s first half penalty shout after being clipped inside the area by Phil Neville a good one?
The Right Result Panel adjudges that Djourou was indeed taken out by Neviller the younger, and therefore Arsenal should have been awarded a penalty. The Right Result is 2-1 to The Gunners.

I can’t remember Neville taking out anybody but I DO know that Arsenals goal came from a free kick that should never have been awarded to them. Carsley clearly won the ball and was booked for his trouble. Arsenal scored from the resulting free kick just outside the area and everton were denied being the 1st away team to win at the Emerites.

This site must be run by Arsenal fans to think that they should have had a penalty in this game (and the one up at Goodison). It was never a free kick - and never a penalty - so 1-0 to the Blues!
I also notice how Johnson’s claim for a penalty in the closing stages has been overlooked! Was more of a foul than the one that led to the equalising free-kick anyway.
