Did wunderkind Wayne take a dive? (Manchester United vs Pompey 4/11/2006)
Despite his claims to the contrary about never having dived being somewhat spurious in a historical context, in this particular instance it seems that allegations of one on Saturday are misplaced. Stefanovic’s hip clearly caught Rooney’s leg and there was no diving or simulation by England’s young star.
The Right Result Panel adjudges that referee Dean’s decision was correct and the Saha penalty stands.

I completely disagree (as does The Times incidentally), Stefanovic’s hip didn’t catch his leg at all, Rooney dived. What you are right about above though is that it isn’t for the first time either - he may be talented yes, but as an Arsenal fan I can’t forget his blatant cheating at the ‘Battle of Old Trafford’ when he dived over the leg of Sol Campbell, so am I surprised to see him at it again, not a jot.

Yeah yeah yeah, Arsenal lost the ‘Battle of Old Trafford’ as you like to call it by two goals, so even if he did con a pen for the first one, the second was fine - Right Result is Manchester United 1 Arsenal 0. So there!
