Christie goal offside (Villa vs Boro 25/11/2006)

Panel DecisionMalcolm Christie was offside for Middlesbrough’s goal, and he came straight out and admitted it! Granted, it’s not difficult to feel that a guy dogged by injuries for the last 4 years (he’s turned out just 14 times in his Middlesborough career) deserves a break, but none-the-less offside is offside, so not really a touch call for the panel…

…who decided that Christie’s goal should be disallowed, and chalked it off to give a Right Result of Aston Villa 1 Middlesbrough 0.

Atleast he had the decency to admit it. Unlike Nigel Reo-coker against Liverpool, ” yea it was definately a shot i see keepers creeping all the time, i tryed my luck” Abit hard when u wasn’t even looking in that direction nigel? :)

That’s what I thought, credit where it’s due, at least he came clean. Unlike Frank Lampard for example (himself an ex-Hammer of course), who takes full credit for every goal he scores regardless of the fact that virtually all of them wind up in the back of the net courtesy of the sort of deflections that are more commonly seen on a pinball machine!
