Watford denied yet again (Watford vs Sheffield United 28/11/06)
Neil Warnock was delighted with a last minute goal that edged a result for The Blades, and clearly felt he was owed some luck after the weekend’s result at West Ham when his side were denied a draw following Rob Kozluk’s disallowed goal (see separate post). However, as if it wasn’t enough for poor Aidy Boothroyd that the winner was netted by a former Watford man in Danny Webber, to add insult to injury the goal was clearly offside! Watford then had two calls for a penalty in quick succession waved away, the second for a Kozluk handball in the area.
The panel adjudged that the goal was indeed offside and a penalty should have been given for Kozluk’s hand ball and so the Right Result is 1-0 to Watford.

What rubbed this in was that the Sky pundits thought it was funny that such a batantly off-side goal was allowed.
Boothroyd said afterwarsd that he wasn’t complaining because Sheffield deserved to win based on performance. But how many points do we have to lose to bad decisions before we start to get some balancing results we don’t deserve?
