MAN CITY vs EVERTON - Everton denied two penalties

Tuesday 2nd January 2007

Panel Decision

Andy Johnson was at it again in this game - not diving that is. Richard Dunne’s push on him merited a penalty which wasn’t given as the England man continues to suffer the consequences of his early season shenanigans. A Distin foul on Osman later in the game also merited a penalty.

The Right Result was a 3-2 away win for Everton.

Andrew Johnson is not a diver. I am a Goodison regular and it is unfair that he gets labelled a diver tag. When you see him live he’s actually so quick and twists and turns so much that he’s often off balance so small contacts make a big difference. I’m not saying he hasn’t made the most of a couple of challenges but he is not a Cristiano Ronaldo or a Gerrard.
