EVERTON vs ARSENAL - Gunners denied a lucky draw
Sunday 18th March 2007

In a game in which they scarcely deserved any kind of result, Arsenal none-the-less should have had a penalty when Aliadiere was brought down by Howard in the area.
The Right Result was a 1-1 draw.

That was not a penalty, Howard got the ball. Aliadiere was lucky not to get booked for diving!

Rubbish it was a penalty and the reply shows that Howard took plentyof JA as well. We’ve had rotten luck this season and the right result table shows it.

The ‘reply’ shows that does it Buda eh? Your reply only goes to show how myopic you Gunners all are, starting with your manager!

jimbob it was a pen plain and simple. Arse are lucky 4 sure but Howard’s a clumsy *** and always has been, hence he’s not at the best club in the world anymore!

Arsenal are even being lucky in the virtual world now are they, whatever next!! NO PEN.

It was not a penalty, Howard got the ball and Aliadiere dived. Amazing how Wenger doesn’t see it when his own players do it yet he can give Andrew Johnson a bad name that has stuck by saying that he does.

I’m sorry but Aliadiere did not dive. I don’t mind naming and shaming players who do, but he didn’t. What happened in my opinion was that Tim Howard took the ball and followed through on Aliadiere a split second later. It was a good call by the referee considering how easy it is to see it as a penalty in the heat of battle.

hahaha! That never was a penalty!
Howard got a hand to the ball first and Aliadiere fell over his hands.
Also… where is the Everton penalty (and Arsenal’s red card) for Jens Lehmann holding back Johnson in the penalty area?

OK I’ll concede it may not have been a pen…maybe…BUT as far as Jens holding back AJ in the area - you sure it wasn’t actually AJ snuggling up under Jens arms to make sure he couldn’t get the ball?!!

There was no way that was a penalty. Howard dived at JA’s feet and clearly got his left hand to the ball while JA dropped like a sack of it in the hope that the ref thought he was playing for Utd.

Howard got a hand to the ball and Alliadiare then went over Howard’s body. No penalty - but also no dive. If it was a pen Whenger would have done his nut - which he didn’t.

I think it was pretty much 50/50 as the keeper took the ball and the man virtually together. There was a tackle in the Liverpool vs chelsea game on tuesday and I can’t remember who it was but the guy got the ball first (no doubt), the followed through on the man and he was penalised. Anyone know the exact ruling on that?

Dont make me laugh that was never a pen, howard clearly got to the ball first. And as for him no longer being at the best club in the world, we shall see today, come on the toffees!
