BIRMINGHAM CITY vs SUNDERLAND - Bad decisions cancel each other out

Wednesday 15th August 2007

Panel DecisionIn this tough battle between two promoted sides Stern John’s last-gasp strike levelled the game and not only earned Roy Keane’s men a share of the spoils but help cement their reputation for fighting to the death. However there were two controversial incidents during the game. A push by Stephen Kelly on David Connolly in first-half should have seen Keith Stroud award the Black Cats a penalty. The second Sunderland goal should have been disallowed because Roy O’Donovan held down Birmingham keeper Doyle.

The Right Result is a 2-2 draw.

The second Sunderland goal reminded me of Chelsea’s vs Barca when they progressed in their CL match a couple of years back. Never should have been allowed and it cost Barca the tie. Mind you Chelsea could hardly beat them playing football could they so perhaps fair enough, do what you got to do! Happily the Sunderland thing evens itself out by the looks of it since they were denied a blatant penalty earlier on.

What goes around comes around for Birmingham. They prevented Shay Given from reaching a ball back in January during the FA Cup. No call was made.

This one will cost Birmingham a bit more than the benefit they got for their non-call.

    Thx,

    Jay!

what a load of rubbish this site is we would be miles clear of relegation zone if refs hadnt been so bad none of the points taken off happened and we would have got a draw at home to everton a win against villa draw against reading and a win against derby by my count we should have at least 8 more points.

Yeah, wheres our point v Reading for Hunts no goal.
2 more points v Villa for the disallowed goal for nothing?
1 point at home v everton for Johnsons handball?

What a pile this site is
