ARSENAL vs MANCHESTER CITY - Schmeichel off his line

Saturday 25th August 2007

Panel Decision
Young Kasper Schmeichel either showed his naivety or the wiles of his lauded father Peter depending on your point of view on Saturday as he was at least a yard off his line when saving Van Persie’s admittedly weak penalty, and it should have been retaken. According to the rules of Right Result penalties are adjudged to be scored (as the majority are).

The Right Result was a 2-0 victory for Arsenal.

Thin is that they are all at it nowadays, show me a keeper who stays on his line and I’ll show you a real rarity!

Glad to see that you lot haven’t fallen for Martin Jol and Spuds ridiculous penalty whining after the ball clearly came off Wes Brown’s chest. Brown had a terrific game and Steed Malbranque was completey anonymous as a result of it so it would have been hugely unfair to penalise him. For once me and old Red Nose are in total agreement!!
