WEST HAM UNITED vs ARSENAL - Freddie’s hammer blow
Saturday 29th September 2007

An assistant’s flag denied former Gooners favourite Freddie Ljungberg a sensational second-half equaliser against the Premier League leaders at Upton Park. Hammers boss Alan Curbishley thought he was was onside, and we agree.
The Right Result is a 1-1 draw.

Freddie was offside folks…a touch by a defender does not reset the offside position. If you a going to mount a site such as this, it would be helpful if you actually knew the rules you were discussing. Any sunday park referee knows the offside ruling in that case, and too bad the match commentators AND Curbs didn’t understand the ruling…You can do better than that…time to reverse the points you are giving to West Ham here.

Rufe, I thinkyou’ll find that Ljungberg was onside when the original pass was played. There certainly was no daylight between him and the defender and these are the rules that should be played by.

Sorry Paul, but it isnt even close. I have watched the video of this a number of times and Freddie is truly offside when the original pass was made. NOT EVEN CLOSE. If you are going to argue that he was onside, then this site is a joke and no one should bother coming here. I have seen the replay a number of times as I have it on my DVR here in the States off the BPL review show. Guys, reverse it back. Curbs tried to argue that the touch by the defender was all you need, and that’s wrong too.

Is this on Youtube so I can take a look? People I know at the game said he looked to be onside but I haven’t seen it yet so if someone can post a link that would be good.
And why is this site a joke because Paul is making an argument Rufe? He’s just making a comment! I actually think that this site and the whole concept of right result is quite interesting.

Its not daylight thats the rule, its whether that any part of the players body that he can legally play the ball with is beyond the last defender.
