CHELSEA v ARSENAL - Drog’s double
Sunday 23 March 2008

On a sooper-dooper, grand slam showdown super Sunday, with the spotlight of controversy focused elsewhere, a crucial illegitimate goal received little attention on a vital day in the race for the title. For the second time in five days, a Right Result offside ruling goes against Didier Drogba. Again it was a marginal decision, but the Chelsea striker was in an offside position when a free-kick was played up to him, and he was the next player to touch the ball, before he struck the first of his two goals against Arsenal.
The Right Result is a 1-1 draw.

Chelsea are much better then arsenal and they diserve that win

There was NO FREE KICK involved in the build up to Chelsea’s first goal.
If “The Right Result” can’t get the basic facts right why would we trust their judgement?

WFH, thank you very much for pointing out that it was, indeed, a deep ball played out of defence by an unchallenged Chelsea player in open play. Nonetheless, the offside offence still applies.

How about the foul on kalou by toure late in the first half..
worthy of a penalty.
in fact there was two stonewall penalties not awarded.
correct result 3-1.

Very odd comments above.
They don’t seem to tally with any neutral view of the match, or indeed any commentators’ view of the match.
Basic fact: 1-1 was the right result. If you don’t agree, you’re wearing Arsenal glasses or Chelsea glasses. I don’t care, I’m a neutral, I like Arsenal’s football but really don’t mind that they lost. But as a neutral to read comments like: “Chelsea are much better then arsenal and they diserve that win” after watching a match in which Arsenal dominated possession and hit the post as well as having an offside goal count against them is irritating.
“in fact there was two stonewall penalties not awarded.”
In fact you is an idiot who cannot rite proper inglish. Oh, and you is rong, to.
I like cfc comment’s though. That is the way a fan should react. “bad bad bad”? good good good.

The Toure foul on Kalou in the first half was a definite penalty - no question. Man not ball in the area. That’s the definition of a penalty.

Very odd comments indeed ME. Especially yours about Arsenal dominating possession. You may want to double check that. Last I saw was 52.5%-47.5% to Chelsea and 50.1 to 49.9 territory, not to mention shots on goal. But hey, why let facts get in the way of a good “neutral” comment
